Water Water Everywhere
Yesterday at aquatic class, I realized how soothing the water was. It was warm, caressing, and sensual in a sense. It is much easier to move in than outside the pool. There is just something about the sense of weighlessness (especially to those of us who are overweight!) that calms and soothes. There is a complete freedom associated with being in the water.........an unrestricted enviroment. It is so calming to lay back, close your eyes, and just float atop the water's surface, feeling the water surround you as the motion of the water undulates around you.
Someone once told me that he had a theory about the sensations that being in water bring us. He said, we were carried, protected and safe, in fluid for 9 months until our birth. It is only as we grow that we learn to fear the water.....through some near drowning experience. or such. Just watch a toddler splashing and frolicking in the water......no fear, no inhibition. Sometimes we just have to let go and let the child in us free.
